India has launched Goverment Scheme for Tourism in India and initiatives to promote tourism across the country. Let’s talk about them.
For the growth of tourism in India goverment has launched these schemes, the growth in tourism in India can lead to the development of many sectors. As we all know India is rich in its heritage sites, culture, temples, forests, rivers, and mountains which makes it attractive for tourists, India is also a large market for travel and tourism. These are some major goverment scheme for tourism in India.
1. Swadesh Darshan Scheme: This scheme was Launched by the Ministry of Tourism, the scheme focuses on the all-over development of tourism in the country to promote tourism and foster economic growth. Swadhesh Darshan means the appearance of our culture and country. The immense beauty of our culture is an attractive site for every traveler. Under this scheme goverment, focuses on development of thematic circuits like wildlife, spiritual, coastal, and heritage circuits.
2. Prasad Scheme: This scheme aims to develop religious destinations in the country to provide better facilities and infrastructure for tourists visiting these sites. Holy destinations are significant in India due to their rich religious diversity and numerous sites visited by millions of devotees every year. The scheme aims to enhance the overall experience of pilgrims by improving amenities such as accommodation, transportation, and sanitation facilities at these destinations.
3. National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD): This mission aims to improve the infrastructure at holy sites to enhance the overall experience for visitors. It aims to enhance the spiritual and cultural significance of these sites while also improving their infrastructure to attract more visitors.
4. E-Tourist Visa (eTV): Introduced to simplify the visa application process for tourists, the e-Tourist Visa allows foreign nationals from eligible countries to apply for a visa online, making it easier and faster to visit India. Foreign nationals who are eligible can apply for a tourist visa online, which reduces the time and effort required to obtain a visa. This initiative aims to make India a more accessible and tourist-friendly destination by removing barriers to entry for foreign visitors.
5. Incredible India 2.0 Campaign: Launched by the Ministry of Tourism, this campaign aims to promote tourism in India globally through various marketing strategies, digital initiatives, and promotional activities. The campaign showcases India’s vibrant cultural heritage, natural beauty, and tourist attractions to attract both domestic and international travelers.
6. Adopt a Heritage Scheme: Under this scheme, monuments, heritage sites, and tourist sites are offered to private and public sector companies, as well as individuals, for adoption to develop and maintain them, thereby enhancing the visitor experience. This organization is responsible for developing, maintaining, and promoting the sites, for enhancing the overall visitor experience, and preserving India’s cultural heritage.
7. Skill Development in the Tourism Sector: Many skills are provided for the development initiatives, undertaken to train people in the tourism and hospitality sector to improve the quality of services and better communication with the tourists.
8. Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN): The UDAN scheme aims to improve air connectivity to remote and regional areas of the country, making it easier for tourists to access these destinations.
9. Clean India Campaign (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan): The Clean India Campaign contributes to promoting tourism by improving cleanliness and hygiene at tourist destinations across the country.
